Don’t be fooled by the angelic appearance of these two little dumplings. Crunchie a seven-month-old buck and Munchie a seven-month-old doe are both Dwarf Mini Lops who came to stay with us for three weeks this year. The word ‘naughty’ isn’t enough to describe the antics these two got up to. In readiness for their arrival I prepared a six foot hutch, where I meticulously placed two litter trays, one full of shavings, one full of hay, a play tunnel, toys, willow sticks, bedding hay, dandelion and marigold hay and feeding bowls. Less than an hour after check-in both bunnies had completely renovated the contents of the hutch and everything had been piled up into the middle. At each end of the hutch all wood shavings had been removed to reveal the wooden floor, and each bunny was sat looking innocent in the midst of what can only be described as organised chaos. Digging was without doubt their favourite past time, and this rather annoying little habit became a regular daily routine which would occur each time I cleaned out the hutch. Extremely energetic and cunning little bunnies, each would attempt to escape given half the chance when the hutch door was opened to feed them hay or veggies or just to give them a fuss. As a precautionary safety measure with Crunchie and Munchie being very young and unpredictable, I placed each bunny securely in a holding pen every morning in order to sanitise their hutch. On a good note it goes without saying they are extremely cute and lovable bunnies whose disruptive behaviour is simply a healthy sign of being inquisitive, full of energy and exploring their surroundings. As a pair, both bunnies were well bonded and it became evident watching their behaviour each day that they got on exceptionally well together. Despite their over-active and boisterous little natures I became quite attached to these two bundles of fur and was sorry to see them leave.
