Berta is a three-year-old Dutch doe who was a joy to have in our rabbitry. A little apprehensive of her new surroundings at first, Berta took time to adjust. A shy young bunny, Berta looked forward to her hay in the mornings, and her dry mix at lunchtime. Berta’s favourite vegetable is broccoli, although she loved being given a small portion of apple now and then, which she devoured with satisfaction; she wouldn’t eat a little of her veggies and save some for later – it was all, or nothing with Berta. Toilet roll cores filled with hay are her favourite past time, nibbling on willow sticks, burrowing under wood shavings and moving her feeding bowl from one side of the hutch to the other.
