In loving Memory of Edwin

Edwin our beloved blue-eyed white Netherland Dwarf and long retired show bunny passed away peacefully during the morning of Monday 03 December 2012. When I found him he was still warm snuggled up in his bed, I took him out of his hutch, and gave him one last cuddle. Upon reading the date and serial number on his show ring I realised he was ten years old, I was so surprised at his age and how time had past by so quickly. I remember Edwin used to get so excited on show days; he posed naturally for the judges, and loved being fussed and groomed for the competitions. Since retiring, Edwin gradually slowed down with old age over the passing years, however he remained healthy to the end, and he never had to visit the vet due to illness. He always maintained a beautiful shiny coat, never suffered prolonged moult and would take time out each day to groom himself quite meticulously. He loved munching on whole carrots and would selectively pick out the sweet corn and peas from his daily feed before finishing the bowlful later. Despite our best efforts Edwin refused to be litter trained instead preferring to use his hay filled litter tray as a cosy bed and retreat.

We miss you little dumpling. Rachel and Richard XX
